It took me around 6 months to a year to learn just the basics. Also, one part that comes with learning to play the guitar is building calluses on your finger tips. This takes time and ultimately takes patience.

Second, you need persistency. If you want to actually learn the guitar you have to have persistency. For me, I almost quit, but I ended up sticking it out because I was persistent. Listen, learning to play the guitar is HARD, really hard. In order for you to overcome the struggles of playing this instrument you need to have persistency when it gets hard and you can’t give up, no matter how hard it gets.
