Beginner Guitar Songs

Hey y’all! Have you ever wondered what songs would be good for people starting to play the guitar? Well, when I started I wondered the same thing. In fact, that is all I wanted to do was to play a song. But, like I said in other posts, learning the guitar is WAY more than learning songs.

Before learning songs you need to learn what chords make up each song. To my understanding, most songs consist of 4 chord pattern. So, if you are beginning to play the guitar, I would shoot with a song that has only 4 chords. If you find a song with less chords that is even better! The less chords it has, the less trouble you will have learning it. Overall, if you can find songs that are simple with chord structure, and you actually know how to play the chords that it is made of, that song would be the best song to play as a beginner!

What Type of Guitar Do I Need?

Hey guys it’s Devyn! People often ask me what type or brand of guitar they need in order to start playing the guitar. This post will be addressing that question, telling you a little about my personal story of which guitar I started with, and what I believe is a good guitar you should start with.

When I was 13 years old I took 100 dollars of my birthday money and spent it on a guitar. The brand of that guitar was called Fender. For the most part, that guitar was the base for me learning how to play. It did everything any other guitar could do, it just costed a lot less. While most people would recommend buying a more expensive brand such as Taylor or Martin, I would recommend buying a guitar you can afford. Especially starting out, something you can afford is a smarter option than spending all your money on something you may not even like to do in the future. As my career in music furthered, I bought other brands of guitars such as Yamaha and Taylor. While I do love these guitars, they are pretty expensive. Some ranging close to 2,000 dollars!

Overall, if you are wanting to learn how to play, buy a guitar that is AFFORDABLE first. Then, if you progress in your playing, go ahead and upgrade to a more quality type of guitar. I see this scenario as I do with cars, if the car gets you to where you need to be, then it’s good. The same analogy with guitars. If the guitar allows you to play well and sound good, then it’s good.  It does not have to be a thousand dollar guitar to sound good.

Playing Songs On The Guitar

Hey Guys! When I first started playing the guitar, all I intended to do was to learn how to play songs. I had one song in mind, and that was it. As I began looking for lessons online, I soon found that in order to play a full song, I would need to learn a multitude of things. Stuff such as: chords, strumming, etc.  All this did was frustrate me to the point of quitting, and I did just that.

Six months after quitting, I looked myself in the mirror and told myself that I was going to learn this song. I figured out that the song was made of 4 chords, then I took action. Everyday I would work on playing these 4 specific chords until perfection. Then, I figured out that the one song had a certain strumming pattern, so I took action again. Everyday I would work on playing that specific strumming pattern until perfection. It finally took me around 1 month to completely perfect the song “Drunk On You” by Luke Bryan.

What I am trying to share with y’all is that most people have the intent to just shoot for the stars when it comes to learning the guitar. This means they just want to get right to it and learn how to play songs. Well the real case is, there is so much more information about the guitar you need to know before playing a song, and for most people that information takes a LONG time to learn. This is why I have created the 5 step course. I have created a course overcoming all of my struggles learning how to play the guitar, so it would benefit people like you in the future. Join the community and learn how to play songs the quickest way I know how!

Guitar Lessons Online

One of the best ways to learn how to play the guitar is from online guitar lessons! They are easy to get access too and there are lots of them. But, how do you know which one to choose? Most people tell me they want to learn how to play the guitar as quick as possible, and others say they want to know how to play the guitar the easiest way possible. Both are hard to come by…

After searching for my own online guitar lessons back in 2013, I found that none of the lessons I took had both qualities I just listed. There would be one that was easy… but it would take me FOREVER to learn just one chord. Then there would be one that was making me learn stuff very fast, but it was SUPER hard to follow and nothing really made sense. This is what I believe makes guitar lessons great. Being able to follow them easily, and being able to learn the information and how to play fast and efficiently.

This is what I took into consideration when I created this course. I took the knowledge I had into what makes a guitar lesson easy, and combined it with beneficial steps to making the whole learning the guitar process faster. Enjoy guys!

Guitar Lessons

When I first started to play the guitar at 13 years old, I searched my local area and across the web for guitar lessons. When I did this, I soon realized that some guitar lessons just weren’t for me. Some I didn’t enjoy, some I couldn’t understand, and some were just plain boring! Some tutors would try to put so much on me that it was impossible for me to even get started.

In my mind, guitar lessons were something that were supposed to be enjoyable, educational, and simple! However, every lesson I found was missing at least one of those three characteristics.

So I thought to myself, can I not just teach myself? Who needs guitar lessons anyways! And I did just that! I threw all of the previous guitar lessons I had attended out the door and started from scratch. During this process of teaching myself the guitar, I made sure that I was having fun, learning, and making it the simplest I knew how so I could learn it faster and more efficiently. The main point is this…if you take guitar lessons, are they fun, educational, and simple? If not, I encourage you to join this community and begin to conquer the guitar the right way!

How To Play The Guitar

Playing the guitar is one of the most daunting tasks I have ever had to tackle. It’s hard, frustrating, and time consuming.

But, when you finally learn how to play the guitar, it’s one of the most relieving and beneficial tasks you will have ever accomplished. So, with that being said, how do you play the guitar?

In the last blog post, I mentioned one of the key elements in learning how to play the guitar, that element was learning guitar chords. All of that information is true, but in all honesty, that is only one piece to the puzzle. In order to learn how to play the guitar, you need to know how to do multiple things. Such as strumming, playing chords, counting beats, etc. All of these things take time to learn and are sometimes hard, but that is why I have created this website. My course will simplify these things and will ensure teaching you the basics of how to play the guitar!

Guitar Chords

The most common question that I receive on a weekly basis from people is “how do you actually play the guitar?” The answer is simple. Guitar chords.

Now you might ask, what is a chord? A chord is defined as three or more notes played together to create a specific sound. You may still be confused, so here is my definition of a guitar chord. When you see a person playing the guitar, look at the hand placed on the neck of the guitar, and you will see that each time they strum, his or her fingers are on specific strings to create a specific sound. That specific sound he or she plays is known as a chord. Guitar chords are the fundamental piece of playing the guitar, without them, playing would sound empty, and more like a lead electric guitar.

In fact, chords are what make up songs. So, in order to play a certain song, you need to know how to play the chords that are in that song. There are a variety of guitar chords, some like the A chord, B chord, and C chord. Some are easy to play, and some are just a pain in the butt! Overall, guitar chords are essential to conquering the guitar!
