The most common question that I receive on a weekly basis from people is “how do you actually play the guitar?” The answer is simple. Guitar chords.
Now you might ask, what is a chord? A chord is defined as three or more notes played together to create a specific sound. You may still be confused, so here is my definition of a guitar chord. When you see a person playing the guitar, look at the hand placed on the neck of the guitar, and you will see that each time they strum, his or her fingers are on specific strings to create a specific sound. That specific sound he or she plays is known as a chord. Guitar chords are the fundamental piece of playing the guitar, without them, playing would sound empty, and more like a lead electric guitar.
In fact, chords are what make up songs. So, in order to play a certain song, you need to know how to play the chords that are in that song. There are a variety of guitar chords, some like the A chord, B chord, and C chord. Some are easy to play, and some are just a pain in the butt! Overall, guitar chords are essential to conquering the guitar!
